Started recording in 2005, released as CD-only in 2007 as Natural Records’ debut EP, *MMV* is Christian “Situ” Espinoza’s near‑solo statement, captured in his self‑built New York studio and featuring jazz pianist Brian Marsella. Over four tracks, Situ fuses dub, worldbeat, experimental jazz and hip‑hop. “Iroundbound Keys” drapes Marsella’s echoing piano over a deep bass throb, cloaked in cavernous delay. “Liberation” twists sub‑bass wobble and fractured percussion into ever‑shifting dub textures. “A Raja Tabla” merges intricate tabla loops with Mediterranean‑tinged motifs and subtle electronics, conjuring ritualistic dialogue. Finally, “Apunta y Lánzate” leaps into jazzy boom‑bap, its crisp horn stabs, guitar scratches and chopped vocals inviting listeners into an infectious groove. Once sold only at gigs, MMV remains a rare artifact of Natural Records’ boundary‑shattering origins.
