Seeking the roots of reggae, one comes down to calypso and mento. And I totally drowned in it :) The lyrical content was always politically topical, anti-authoritarian and often humourus. So here is my take on this old genre, coming fully out of my own heart and mind. It´s a statement of anti-capitalism and a general loving and caring anarchism. I really love the old recordings from the 50:s and aimed for that roughness in the sound. So it will distort, there will be no polish, and no fucking pitch correction. Just instruments sounding as they do. I play all the instruments, I recorded them and I mixed the songs. I wrote the lyrics and the songs (although the genre as such is made up of just a few progressions, it´s folk music after all, so who can take credit for THAT? :) ). I also added an old swedish folk song, Gärdebylåten, by the legendary fiddler Hjort Anders Olsson. Somehow it fits the formula.
