8 MARIAN THEMES is a devotional journey through the sound, memory and spiritual identity of Andalusian processional music. Conceived by Prof. Manuel GAGO FERNÁNDEZ for Spanish symphonic wind band, solo voices, grand SATB choir and children’s choir, the album moves from the solemn darkness of the processional night toward the radiant promise of Resurrection. Its eight original compositions combine noble clarinet melodies, expressive oboe and alto-saxophone solos, warm flugelhorns, ceremonial cornets, powerful low-brass sections, restrained processional percussion, cathedral bells and monumental choral writing. “Cuando comienza la noche” opens the journey in contemplation; “Lágrimas sobre la cera” transforms intimate sorrow into prayer; “Consolatrix” honours Nuestra Señora de Consolación de Utrera; “Tres de Octubre” is dedicated to the Virgen de las Angustias; “Piedad, Madre Nuestra” evokes the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Piedad in Almendralejo; “Buena Muerte en la Madrugá”
