Chillhop Timezones Japan

Chillhop Music is proud to present the next chapter in our global series: Timezones Japan. This compilation marks Chillhop’s second Timezones installment of 2025, following the debut Nigeria edition, which celebrated Nigeria’s rich instrumental music scene. At the core of Timezones Japan lies a subtle yet meaningful tribute to the legacy of legendary beatmaker Nujabes, who continues to inspire producers and listeners around the world, ourselves included. Sampling has driven instrumental hip hop in Japan for over two decades now, and to honor that, we invited four acclaimed Japanese composers to craft original samples, which then became the foundation for a lineup of celebrated beatmakers from Japan and beyond. Timezones Japan is a love letter to Japanese instrumental hip-hop, filled with 20 gems waiting to be discovered.
