My poem "Bed Bug" comes from a story my foster mother used to tell me about a brown man on a train in a new white suit. He's dressed to the T, and feeling great about his move North. Suddenly, a white man reached over to him and removed a bed bug from his shoulder. Well, the brown man was furious. "Put it back," he yelled at the helpful traveler, "white folks can't stand to see us have nothin'!" LOL - I hope you enjoy this piece, it's one of my favs.
