Way back in 1998ish... in order to get The Punany Poets qualified for coverage in The Source Magazine, Jessica Holter selected this piece from her first anthology, Punany: The Hip Hop Psalms to be recorded. "X Visions of You" is a sensual conversation between French voice-over artist Nafissa Tayebi and Branden Pernell. Pernell lays a voyeuristic rhyme over the sensual curves of a saxophone, making a marriage of Tayebi's native French response. The musical fusion produced by Lev Berlak was new in its time and continues to soar above the spoken word standard. This was the goal of our executive producer DeWayne Wiggins of Tony Toni Tone!', who says he wanted to make poetry a worthwhile choice for music lovers.
