The Piano Sonata No. 14, Op . 27 No. 2 is a sonata by Beethoven . This sonata was played a lot during the time of Beethoven, who went on to say that he had made better songs. The "Moonlight Sonata" , which has been the subject of numerous films and novels , only received its nickname in 1832, five years after Beethoven's death. It was the critic Rellstab who likened the song to moonlight on Lake Lucerne . This comparison was adopted as a nickname for the work.
