Glenn Chugg - Dont Mistake The Depth For Drowning

Meaning: A rare outward-facing song — an invitation to someone else to go past small talk into real intimacy, framed as an offer rather than a wound. Technical: Indie acoustic alt-folk / atmospheric soft rock, 82–88 BPM. Starts thoughtful and slightly weary over gentle acoustic guitar and soft piano, gradually warming as bass and atmospheric textures enter through the choruses. The bridge strips back to near-nothing — intimate, almost spoken directly to one person — before the final chorus opens wider without becoming dramatic. Read: Structurally one of the more different songs in the library — it isn't describing Glenn's own damage, it's asking someone to trust him with theirs. "I say what I notice, that's all that I do. Seeing isn't judging, it's just another view" is a genuinely careful, non-accusatory way to describe how he reads people. Genuinely lovely final line: "I'll meet you at the surface… but I live beneath."
