Everything Changes When We Do It in Joy I go for my morning walk No rush, no haste Joy so thick around me I can almost taste The kingdom is all around you When you finally see Little living reminders Of how good life can be A baby bird takes wing A turtle nesting near A rabbit and a deer Reminds me of old Bambi And I laugh to myself and think Maybe the kingdom’s already here Lift up your eyes Let the sunlight in Sometimes the miracle Is where you’ve always been Everything changes when we do it in joy Work becomes play And the kingdom becomes a place where we can stay Knowing everything happens for a reason And that’s okay Everything changes when we do it in joy I pass an old man sitting Coffee in his hand He nods and smiles at nothing Like he understands Kids riding bikes in circles Pure freedom, no plan The sun breaks through the branches Like it’s reaching for my hand We’ve been looking so hard For something so near Maybe the kingdom was never hidden It was always right here Everything changes when we do it in joy Work becomes play And the kingdom becomes a place where we can stay Knowing everything happens for a reason And that’s okay Everything changes when we do it in joy The baker opens early Flour on his hands A mother tying shoelaces As her little one stands A bus driver waves hello To faces he don’t know Tiny sparks of heaven Everywhere people go And I smile to myself again Like a kid with a brand new toy Because everything changes When we do it in joy Maybe the whole secret Is as simple as it seems What we choose to focus on Becomes the world we see Everything changes when we do it in joy Work becomes play And the kingdom becomes a place where we can stay Knowing everything happens for a reason And that’s okay Everything changes when we do it in joy
