The Sad Piano is a key arrangement that I wrote while heartbroken over a failed relationship. I've always been a fan of punk and emo music and I was going for something along the lines of "The End feat Lights" by Silverstein and "If It Means A Lot To You" by A Day To Remember. Both are duets where the lead vocalist performs with a guest female vocalist as both sides sing their perspective of the lost romance. In particular, the Silverstein song is about two highly flawed individuals who both confess their wrongs to each other as the relationship goes up in flames. While I am not a great writer of lyrics, I tried to write two corresponding piano parts that harmonize together near the end of the song in similar fashion. The melodies representing the voices of two lovers who, while they may have shared an amazing memory, have accepted the fact that they are not the best fit for each other. The final lonely voice cries out in sorrow. It still brings a tear to the eye. :(
