Cántico a Teresa Performance by Prof Manuel Gago

Album Title “Eternal Flame of the Soul: Choral Symphonies on the Poetry of Carolina Coronado” Orchestration by Prof. Manuel Gago Album Description (≈ 2100 characters) This album is a monumental journey into the world of Romantic choral-symphonic music, inspired by the luminous and visionary poetry of Carolina Coronado (1820–1911), one of the most powerful female voices of 19th-century Spain. Across twenty grand choral hymns, the listener is invited to experience an entire spiritual and poetic universe, where nature, memory, mourning, faith, hope, and freedom are transformed into sound through orchestration of monumental scope. The music has been conceived in the spirit of the great Romantic masters—Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn, and Verdi—yet remains deeply anchored in Coronado’s unique poetic language. Her verses, full of mysticism and natural symbolism, serve as the foundation for each work. From the elegiac “Cántico a Teresa” to the blazing invocation of “Libertad,” from the tender serenity of “La fuente” to the monumental grandeur of “El mar” and the spiritual transcendence of “La fe,” the album unfolds as a vast symphonic liturgy, both human and divine. Each piece has been carefully orchestrated by Prof. Manuel Gago, who brings to life the Romantic sound world with full symphony orchestra, organ, harp, and massive mixed choir. The orchestration does not merely accompany the text but amplifies it, transforming Coronado’s imagery into soundscapes of overwhelming intensity. The brass and timpani thunder like storming seas in El mar; the harp and woodwinds shimmer like moonlight in A la luna; the organ anchors solemnity in La tumba; and the choir itself becomes a universal voice, sometimes whispering in prayer, sometimes erupting in fortissimo proclamations of hope, faith, and liberation. At the core of the project is the Romantic belief that poetry, music, and spirituality are inseparable. Coronado’s words, charged with emotional depth and visionary symbolism, are lifted into the realm of the eternal by the grandeur of the music. The album is not just a concert program: it is a spiritual journey, a meditation on the human condition, and a celebration of the eternal powers that guide existence—love, memory, freedom, hope, and faith. The structure of the album mirrors a concert mass. The opening works serve as invocations (Cántico a Teresa, Libertad), the middle section is dedicated to the contemplation of nature and mortality (La palma, La l
