Featuring simple yet hypnotic production, a familiar chord pattern but subtly unorthodox detailing to instantly set the mood, ‘Just Me’ starts off with the strength of its easily memorable hook; a seductive listing format combining melancholy and a catchy tune. It then proceeds to weave in various switches in flow, pace, volume and intensity, throughout an increasingly emotive lifespan. Far from the first single to employ Estella’s fast-paced lyrical outpourings, though perhaps one of the more striking given the contrast between this and the simplicity of the chord pattern, ‘Just Me’ guides listeners through a relentless and almost diary-style presentation of ideas and feelings – reflecting on the ache of a broken relationship with equal parts anecdote and relatability.
