This is my first collab! I made it in conjunction with my buddy, Ethentric, for the Thief competition, go check him out!! (https://audius.co/ethentric_edm) This collab was a BLAST to make, Ethentric tackled the main bass patches, glitches, and ideas for the second drop, and I laid the rest of the song out and put on effects! There was a lot of learning on my belhalf on this track, specifically how to make the basses sound grittier, and I did so with a bass patch that actually has a 7th above it. We ended up writing a progression for the song in Dorian, because we thought it would fit the vibe we landed on for the song. I'd say the biggest takeaway for this song though is placing effects around, and also adding effects. We ended up having like 4 different bass patches (one under the supersaws, one that we discussed that was under the basses, one for the pluck hits, and one that was a preset for the stabs at the end of the phrases.) There were also 3 different reeses, one that was the gritty reese for fills and for the buildup, a eqed and desaturated one that was put under the supersaws, and a softer one I use alot, used in the garage section and 4 on the floor section. Then there are the different "fill" sounds, which include that pluck bass, a laser, the little string stabs, the glitches Ethentric made, and like 3 different arps I think we ended up using a good chunk of the samples too, but they're more scattered around. I cut the little sax flair that's used in the sampled sax, before the drop, and placed it around a few places, to add some finer details (since it's just a sliiiight variation of the one used inside the end of some of the drop's phrases. In a talk with Ethentric, I told him the bass sounded like an alarm to me, and we just... kinda ran with it! Thank you for giving the track a listen, and as always, thank you for hosting Audius!
