“I wrote Hometown in my house on a warm summer day in 2020 when we should have been in the midst of one of the bigger tours in our career. The lyrics are sort of an open letter to fans expressing how bad we wanted to be back out there traveling and playing songs to excited music lovers. I got really into Thundercat that summer which inspired the falsetto vocals and the growly bass tone. I always have fun singing in my high voice so I wanted to capture that a little bit. And of course, in regular Road Waves fashion, I have a hard time not smashing a bunch of genres together."
