Cover of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," written by J. Fred Coots & Haven Gillespie. It was first recorded by Harry Reser and His Orchestra and when covered by Eddie Cantor on his radio show in November 1934, within 24 hours half a million copies of the sheet music and over 30,000 recordings were sold. There have been numerous covers of the song over the years by famous artists too many to mention here. The Jackson 5 version, from which I took my inspiration for the cover, was released in 1970 from their album, "Jackson 5 Christmas Album." It charted well world-wide. Only two versions, that of Mariah Carey and the Supremes, reached the #1 spot. Carey's in the Netherlands and the Supremes' in Singapore. Many of the versions have charted Gold or Platinum in various countries. The Jackson 5's version was certified Platinum in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. My cover was recorded 29 September 2026. (There is no ISRC for the original version of the song because it predated the instigation of that Code -- the one mentioned in the Advanced section is that for the Jackson 5).
