Introducing an easy hit for the year ahead, San Diego-based creative producer, song writer and vocal powerhouse Estella Dawn crafts an absolute gem of an alt- pop hit, with the scornfully adoring and seductively catchy ‘Angel’. Building from indie-pop beginnings, organic guitar and upfront lyrics guide us through the strengths of Estella’s versatile ability and indeed the inspiration for the song. ‘Angel’ goes on to drop in with an almighty hook – a gritty and X-rated peak that naturally drives its way into your headspace. The chorus lifts the mood in an instant, despite its dissonant themes of depicting toxic flaws in a significant other. The subject matter is heavily relatable, attachment to the ache of disappointment and the excitement of new love, and as ever, Estella faultlessly captures the essence of all of this. With hints of influence from the likes of Matt Maeson, Lady Gaga, Jessie Murph and Halsey, with the ferocity and juxtaposed smooth flow of ‘Angel'.
