I’m not very good at articulating my frustration at the lack of leadership throughout the pandemic in Australia and globally, but I’ve tried to express myself in this song without politicising my songwriting. Sonically I wanted to give Horror Show a sense of empowerment, and lyrically it’s an expression of frustration but also hope. The underlying theme is about taking ownership of your situation and checking in on the people you care about. Smile under your mask while we fight our way out of this together.
